One of my most favorite times of the year is back-to-school shopping. As a home school mom and coop director, I scour for the weekly bargains and stretch our supply budget as far as I can.
The sales typically start July 4th weekend, and carry on for several weeks. Each Sunday I eagerly peruse the ads to see what bargains can be had. And as my Facebook friends tend to ask lots of questions when I post my finds...I thought I would recap this week's loot here in one post. While it's only Monday, you have all week to look into these bargains, too!
These Craftsman tool totes are from Sears. They run about $13 regular price, and they make the perfect school supply caddy! I will show you how else I use them later. Stay tuned!
Crafters and teachers alike find these foldable rolling crates very useful. Normally $25, you can get them for just $15 this week at Office Max or Office Depot. Red, blue, or black. I've used one for many years. They come with a lid and make a great seat, too.
Office Max and Office Depot have these heavy-duty pouches for $2. I got them for our Essentials Students in Classical Conversations. More on that soon!
With a $5 purchase at Office Max or Office Depot (can we just change the name to Depot Max?), you can get these items for 1 cent each. Notecards, pencil boxes, and folders. Limit 3 on the boxes and cards. Limit 10 on the folders.
My upcoming fifth grader is learning how to write so I couldn't pass up the $1 Thesaurus at Depot Max. They also had $1 dictionaries.
These primary journals with room for both writing and drawing can run upwards of $4 a piece. But Office Depot Max has them for $1 this week! Huge score.
$4 for Washable Crayola markers this week at Staples. I get a new set every year, my kids
use them like crazy.
My fifth grader is starting to offer input on school supplies and has informed me that his cheap 1 cent pencil sharpener from last year's deals just doesn't cut it. He's the wooden pencil and colored pencil expert so I took his word for it and got him this $4 upgrade. It has two holes, one for pencils and one for colored pencils. $5+ on Amazon so hey, I got a deal and the boy is happy.
I call these "mom school supplies". Depot Max this week had their STELLAR poly notebooks for 50 cents, limit 3. These are very nice quality with a very sturdy spiral. Depot had these fun colors, too. Also, life is better with post-it's so I grabbed plastic tabs for $3, paper flags for $3, and a 5-set of sticky notes for $5. The colors are great.
Lastly, my favorite pen of late has been the clickables by Zebra. Love them for my planner. And they had two packages for $6. I grabbed packages of both black and colored. No skipping or glopping. It's a smooth write, and I like to clip one right to my Erin Condren Planner spiral to always have handy.
Hope this post was helpful and gives you plenty of time to snag some deals yourself. The earlier in the week you go to the office stores, the better. If you would like for me to post about next week's deals, just leave a comment and let me know. I'm happy to help, especially when it comes to school supplies and saving money!
